Cox nets Superin- tendent of the Year recognition

Alleghany County Schools Superintendent Jeff Cox was named the Northwest Regional Superintendent of the Year. Presenting him with the honor was Joe Sinclair, the executive director of Northwest Regional Educational Service Alliance (NWRESA).

The presentation was presented during the Aug. 10 meeting of the Alleghany Board of Education.

Sinclair told the board and audience that Cox was unanimously selected by 12 fellow superintendents. Reading from a document expressing reasons why individuals think Cox should receive the honor, Sinclair read, "I don't have a conversation with him where I don't learn something new and valuable. Another one says, ‘He is the master chef for tailgating parties,' which brought laughter from the audience.

Sinclair also remarked that Cox has tutored a child that recently passed the reading and math end of grade testing for the first time.
