County gets grant funds for “Veterans Park"

The Alleghany County Board of Commissioners learned at a meeting Monday night that the state Department of Parks and Recreation has awarded the county a matching grant to build a new park in Sparta.

Parkway 75th event is planned in Sparta

A send-off celebration in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Parkway is slated for Sept. 6, at 5:30 p.m. at Crouse Park.

Mud sling set at fairgrounds

The Glade Creek Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a second annual mud sling Saturday. This year's event is being sponsored by Alpha Finance Company.
