Historical Museum to open in Sparta

Despite earlier plans that went awry, an Alleghany County Historical Museum will be opening soon on North Main Street.

Schools to open Aug. 4

Doors to all four county schools will open for close to 1,600 students on Aug. 4, with elementary through high school students beginning classes that day.

Solid Rock Food Closet announces new employees

David Carpenter was recently appointed as the new director at Solid Food Closet, and Daren Bottomley was recently named the director of volunteers.
