Clarification
As a point of clarification, a story in last week's edition about the county budget stated that the Alleghany County Board of Commissioners agreed to restrict travel to only ‘mandatory' excursions. However, while the board did discuss the matter, no vote was taken on the travel issue and thus no official action was recorded.
SkyLine Telephone Membership Corporation has been tapped to receive a $29 million grant to expand broadband Internet service in this area, according to a Skyline press release.
