‘Family Fun' set for this Friday night
This year marks the seventh consecutive year for Family Fun Night, an annual event for children and parents in recognition of "The Week of the Young Child" and "Child Abuse Prevention Month," which are held annually in April.
Partnership for Children information states the event will begin Friday, April 16, at 5:30 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m. at Sparta School.
Angie Wagoner with the Partnership for Children said the event is themed "The Power of Play" and the purpose is to education parents how important play is in childhood development.
Outdoor events this year will include a climbing wall and a bounce house, while a variety of games and activities are planned indoors. The outdoor events are being sponsored by the Sparta Parent-Teacher Association.
Indoor events are being sponsored by a number of local organizations. Each station for children inside the school will feature various crafts and activities.
As for the meal, pizza and hotdogs will be served at no charge. Each person will be given a food ticket upon entering and will be required to present that ticket to get a free meal. Those returning for additional food will be charged a nominal fee.
Also returning this year is the cake walk.
While the event is free and open to anyone with children, donations are accepted.
