Candidate forum to be held Friday at Sparta School

A candidate forum, hosted by Alleghany Kids Voting will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at the Sparta Elementary School auditorium.

Request to honor veterans is denied

A request to rename the Sparta Parkway to Veterans Memorial Parkway was denied, according to a letter from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Town approves new gaming moratorium

During a March 24 meeting, a 120-day moratorium was adopted by the Sparta Town Council.
