On a 4-1 vote, the Alleghany County Board of Commissioners agreed to give an Alleghany County Jail employee compensation for his years of service as he is being promoted to a higher rank.

The Alleghany Rotary Club is seeking a World War II veteran from Alleghany County to go on the Flight of Honor in April. The Flight of Honor is a Rotary program that gives veterans the opportunity to view the World War II Memorial, as well as other memorials, in Washington, D.C.
