LeAnn Gambill officially became the director of the Solid Rock Food Closet on Jan. 1 of this year, a month after shadowing former Director DeAnne Warren, who held the position since the food closet's inception in 2004.
When Gambill took the helm of the food closet, she had goals of learning how the nonprofit operated and to get to know its clients and the where the food comes from and the like. With a smile, she added, "I think I met all those goals in the first two weeks."
With almost a year of serving the community under her belt, she has two goals for the next year of service: feeding people and "making sure we have enough food on our shelves to feed those who are hungry."
Addressing the level of supplies, Gambill commented, "At this point, we're doing really, really good."
In light of the Christmas season, the food closet has been fixing an extra bag of food for its clients so "our clients to be able to fix their Christmas meal…We've going to be able to fill about 400 bags to give out to each family this year. We've been doing that since the first of December and it's going to be ongoing through Dec. 31.
