The Alleghany County Board of Commissioners gave the schools system the go-ahead to seek a Qualified School Construction Bond (QSCB) to pay for a $3.5 million school construction project at Glade Creek School.
In addition, the application will include $850,000 for upgrades to the schools' water and sewer systems.
The QSCB loans are interest-free and can be used to pay for new school construction or land acquisition. The deadline for the school system to send in its application is Aug. 26.
