Individuals from around the state recently took part in a mission project here in Alleghany through Carolina Cross Connection.
The organization is one of a few organizations serving the area providing time and effort through projects ranging from yard work to light construction projects for those in need.
"We try to have 40 families per week," said Angela Graham, who serves as the director of Carolina Cross Connections at West Wilkes Middle School, where groups will be housed every other week until the first of August.
During the week of June 14-20, campers were in the county doing projects including yard work, minor construction projects, painting, underpinning and the like.
Graham added of the importance of the Carolina Cross Connection ministry, "We like to use working for them…as a (way) to talk to them and help minister to them and share the love of Christ…Not only do we want to physically help them, we want to spiritually help them as well."
As of presstime, Carolina Cross Connection is nearing completion of its second camp week, with additional camp weeks scheduled for July 12-18.
