A couple members of the Sparta Town Council met with members of the Crouse House Committee March 17 to discuss plans for a potential stage that is hoped to be up and operational by the end of May.
The issue was addressed during the town council's March 3 meeting and at present, the plans are to have the stage constructed near Razor's Edge Skate Park.
The selection of the site was a collaborative effort, according to Mike Parlier, who serves as the chairman of the Crouse House Committee.
During the March 17 meeting, businessman D.W. Miles commented that the stage needs to be placed in the most visible location possible.
Miles distributed information regarding the advantages of the proposed location. These included using "unattractive property and making it look good," very little preparation would be needed to build at the site and it is a good vantage point from which people can recognize that an activity is taking place. Other advantages included it would only be a small expense to relocate the horseshoe pit and volleyball court. While stage equipment could be unloaded from the nearby skate park parking area, the elevation of the land up to the covered porch of the Crouse House could be utilized for seating.
