WCOK Heart Auction begins this Saturday

The 42nd Annual WCOK (1060 AM) Heart Fund Auction begins this Saturday morning, Feb. 21. The auction, which benefits the American Heart Association to fund research to help prevent heart disease and stroke, will continue on Feb. 28, the following Saturday.

Some of the items being auctioned are on display in the front windows of Seasons Gifts and Home Decor (in the former Smithey's building) on South Main Street in Sparta.

The auction typically begins Saturday mornings at 9:35 a.m. and continues through the station's sign-off, which usually takes place around nightfall (6 p.m.). However, the length of the auction depends on donations. The auction is broadcast live on WCOK and Channel 8 on Alleghany Cablevision.

Those wishing to place bids may call the station at 372-8231, 372-8302 or on the dedicated line at 372-8090. Auction items still are being accepted and may be donated by contacting Virginia Setzer at 372-8495.
