A Galax, Va. man, subject of a daylong search on the Blue Ridge Parkway, was found uninjured about 9:25 a.m. Sunday.
According to U.S. Park Ranger Eddy Cartaya, 57-year-old Mark Maull was found on the Parkway near Milepost 244, about two-and-a-quarter miles from the Alligator Back portion of the Mountains to Sea Trail, where his motorcycle had been located around 10 a.m. Saturday.
The Parkway boasts an extensive variety of trails in that area, near the Bluff's Lodge and part of the Doughton Park trail system, including a lengthy hike to Caudill Cabin.
Cartaya served as the planning officer in the case. U.S. Park Ranger Colin Fisher, who served as the investigating officer in the case, was out of the office and was not available for comment on Tuesday.
Cartaya reported it was his understanding that Maull left his Galax home the night of the third, traveled the Parkway, parked the motorcycle at the Alligator Back Overlook and went on a hike.
