Libertarian candidate for governor visits

Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Michael "Mike" Munger visited Motley's Barbecue in Piney Creek last Friday as part of his effort to visit all 100 counties in the state prior to Election Day.

Munger, who holds a doctorate in economics and is the chair of the political science department at Duke University, told diners at the restaurant that he had been a Republican all of his life. However, he changed affiliation due to the increased growth of government in the past five years and other changes he found inconsistent with the principals of the country's founding fathers.

He said his party was providing a choice other than the standard two-party system.
