Press Release - Public Forum on Wind Energy Held in Mitchell County

BIG TURNOUT—About 3,000 fair enthusiasts from Alleghany and surrounding counties turned out for the mower races and fireworks Saturday at the Alleghany County Fair in Sparta.

About 5,000 visit fair

With about 5,000 in attendance between last Thursday and Saturday, the Alleghany County Fair was deemed a success by organizers.

According to April Hamm, who serves as the chair of the fair committee, the fair was attended by about 800 last Thursday, 1,200 on Friday and 3,000 on Saturday.
