Single issue of newspaper will be 50 cents next week
Effective Thursday, July 3, the price of single copies of The Alleghany News will increase from 35 cents to 50 cents.
Single copies are sold from coin-operated newsracks and in service stations, grocery stores and other establishments around the area. Subscribers will not be affected by the increase at the present time.
Publishers said the step is necessary because of the continuing increase in the price of newsprint, ink and all other components that go into the production and distribution of the newspaper.
It's been more than a decade since the price of single copies last increased.
