All broadcast television will switch over to digital in February 2009, a change that has prompted concern and some confusion among some local TV viewers.

Budget requests top $16.5 million

The Alleghany County Commissioners received preliminary budget requests for fiscal year 2008-2009 Monday night totaling more than $16.5 million.

Shriners help Piney Creek family

At the tender age of eight, Christopher Cox II of Piney Creek is scheduled to have a four-to-six hour surgery on April 29 at the Shriners Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina.
