Several activities are on tap for this weekend including a family fun night and a day of mission projects.

Foxx visits Magnolia plant

Parkdale Mills officials visited their company's local yarn plant (Magnolia Manufacturing) and gave a tour of the facility to 5th District U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-Watauga) last Friday.

Schools approve budget request

Following a short discussion April 10, the Alleghany County Board of Education voted to approve the $3.375 million budget proposal.

Dr. Heravi honored by AMH for service

Alleghany Memorial Hospital honored Dr. Cyrus Heravi, retired general surgeon, with a bronze plaque that will be displayed in the hospital's main lobby corridor.

Bedtime story becomes children's book

A few years after making bedtime stories up "off the top of his head" to tell his young son Avery and foster daughter Donna, Ennice resident Jeff Chandler was able to weave a bedtime story into a children's book.
