Joe Potts, who has been director of the Alleghany Wellness Center since September 2003, recently resigned to pursue another opportunity.
Potts, whose last day will be in mid-April, said he has accepted a stewardship position with Blue Ridge Rural Land Trust. The land trust, which helps willing landowners with the conservation easement process, serves seven counties in northwest North Carolina, including Alleghany, Ashe, Wilkes, Watauga, Avery, Yancey and Mitchell.
Potts will be working under the leadership of Director James Coman and Deputy Director Walter Clark. The land trust, which recently celebrated its 10th year of operations, will have a paid staff of three after Potts comes on board.
"I'd like to express my gratitude to all the AWCI board members and staff, past and present, Wellness Center members, volunteers and the elected officials who have supported us," said Potts.
