Richardson re-elected chairman
With little discussion, the Alleghany County Board of Commissioners
unanimously re-elected its leadership Monday night.
Democrat Ken Richardson was appointed to another term as chairman,
while Republican J. Warren Taylor was re-elected as vice chairman.
Richardson was elected on a motion by Commissioner Doug Murphy,
seconded by commissioner Randy Miller. Meanwhile, Taylor was elected
on a motion by Miller, seconded by Murphy.
The move is an annual event for the board, which typically elects
leadership, approves rules of operation, and appoints a clerk and
counsel at its first meeting in December.
The board also re-appointed Donna Shumate as the board attorney and
Karen Evans as clerk to the board.
Following the vote, Richardson thanked the board for re-electing him
to the position. "I want to thank everybody for their confidence in
allowing me to be chair one more time," said Richardson. He said he
would work to make the board "as successful as we can."
