With the holiday season upon us, several Yuletide events are scheduled for this weekend—from the annual Choose and Cut and craft fair to the annual singing Christmas Tree—to keep individuals busy this weekend. Craft Fair

The annual Alleghany Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Christmas Craft Fair will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Emerson Black Exhibition Building at the Alleghany County Fairgrounds.

Beginning at 9 a.m. and lasting until 4:30 p.m., 20-plus vendors will be on hand to offer handmade and unique gifts for Christmas gifts and the consumers alike.

"It offers a chance to shop for gifts you won't likely find any place else," commented Chamber Director Bob Bamberg.

This year's vendors include—but are not limited to—Blue Ridge Wood Crafters, Just-A-Dash, Alleghany Partnership, Addicted to Beading, Nature's Light, Quilts by Delta and S&N Farm.

This year, each vendor was asked to donate an item and the donated items will be split into three groups, composing three gift baskets that are scheduled to be raffled off on Dec. 14 at 3 p.m. at the Chamber. Tickets for the raffle will be sold for $3 each or two for $5 and are available through Chamber members. Bamberg explained that the day of the raffle, the first individual will have their choice from among the three baskets and the second their choice between the remaining two.

"The fair gives those looking for trees another place to shop, and gives people from out of town another reason to come.
