PARADE—The Trojan Pride Marching Band (right) makes its way down Main Street during the annual Sparta Christmas Parade, which was held on Saturday. United Faith Church (189K)

Chamber Director Bob Bamberg, a parade organizer, said he was pleased with the turnout of homemade floats, like the one shown below left by United Faith Church. No winners were selected for this year's event, but Bamberg said the overall quality of the floats was very good.

Following the parade, the band performed on the Alleghany Courthouse lawn. "They did a very nice job," said Bamberg. Also appearing was Santa, who posed for photos with parade-goers until around 4 p.m. "We had children of all ages, including some retirees, who took part," said Bamberg.
