Motorcyclist killed in wreck on N.C. 18 South

A 62-year-old Clemmons man lost his life in a motorcycle accident Oct. 21 at 12:40 p.m. on N.C. 18 about seven miles south of Sparta, according to a report filed by Trooper S.L. Roten of the N.C. Highway Patrol.

Learning that an individual has cancer is a difficult thing to hear, much less mentally process. In 2002, a group of people in the county battling the disease came together and began gathering in Sparta Restaurant each month.

Attendance is up for Hillbilly Show, organizer says

Attendance at the annual Hillbilly Comedy and Variety Show held Oct. 20 exceeded that of last year's, according to Organizer Agnes Joines with the Alleghany Planning Committee.
