Saturday night will be a night of laughter and legends as the 14th
annual Hillbilly Comedy and Variety Show displays a variety of talent
with its legend-themed performance.
Organizer Agnes Joines stated this year's show is themed, "The
Legends" as a tribute to Del Reeves, a musician and Sparta native who
died Jan. 1 in his home in Centerville, Tenn.
"This year we wanted to honor one of Alleghany's own," she said. "We
thought we would invite to the stage some artists who performed with
Del."
Impersonators slated to make an appearance at the show range from
Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash to Elvis Presley.
"I'm expecting it to be packed," Joines said of the upcoming show.
"We've always had a packed house but we hope every seat will be taken
as the money raised will go toward a good cause. If you miss this
show, you will miss a great time of good food, fellowship and
entertainment."
Cost of admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children ages 6 to 12.
The monies raised during the event will go toward several causes,
according to Joines.
