Press Release - Public Forum on Wind Energy Held in Mitchell County

Heritage Festival is Saturday

The Mountain Heritage Festival is scheduled for this Saturday, Sept. 22, from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The festival will lead to the closure of Main Street from Doughton Street to Cheek Street and of N.C. 18 from Grayson Street to the U.S. 21 bypass (Sparta Parkway).

About 90 vendors are scheduled to take part in the annual event. Vendors offer items ranging from food to arts and crafts items. Some of the selections that are expected in the food courts include calabash-style seafood, pork-chop sandwiches, Brunswick stew, fried bologna sandwiches, barbecue chicken, roasted corn as well as a selection of sweets and drinks.

Live musical entertainment and dance performances are planned for two stages.
