Board of Education seeks funding for middle school

The possibilities of a potential middle school were discussed Aug. 29 during a meeting of the board of education and the principals of the four county schools.

DOT to hold auction here next Wednesday

The North Carolina Department of Transportation's (NCDOT) Equipment and Inventory Control Unit and several NCDOT divisions are planning a surplus inventory auction at the Alleghany Fairgrounds on U.S .21 just north of Sparta next Wednesday, Sept. 12.
