The 20th annual Alleghany County Agricultural Fair is under way and
is set to provide entertainment for the remainder of the week for one
and all.
The Emerson Black Exhibition Building first opened its doors Monday
to accept exhibits for the fair, which will be on display throughout
this week. Specifically, exhibits may be viewed free of charge Aug.
23 and Aug. 24 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., and Aug. 25 from 10 a.m.
until 8 p.m.
Categories range from garden vegetables and flower arrangements to
home canned and baked goods. Other categories include home
furnishings, handicrafts, and sewing and clothing.
Entrants should pick up their exhibits on Aug. 27 between 1 p.m. and
5 p.m. Prior removal of an exhibit will forfeit any prize money that
may have been awarded. Fair officials reserve the right to dispose of
damaged and spoiled items, as well as those items not picked up on
Aug. 27.

the 25th. Thursday's show will begin at 6 p.m.; Friday's county show
will begin at 7 p.m.; and Saturday's district show will begin at 4 p.m.
All events may be viewed free of charge and will be held at the
livestock barn, located just below the exhibition building, at the
fairgrounds.
The remaining schedule is as follows:

Carnival and Other Events
Carnival rides and games will be provided by Brinkley Entertainment

big family night Thursday when the carnival opens. There will be a
wide variety of carnival concessions, (including but not limited to)
cotton candy, funnel cakes and snow cones."
Tonight and Friday night between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., no gate
admission will be charged. Individuals can ride an unlimited amount
of rides on Thursday by purchasing a wristband for $15. On Friday,
there will be a two-for-one special on the purchase of an $18
wristband, allowing two to an unlimited number of rides. On Saturday,
a $6 gate admission will be charged between 4 p.m. and midnight and
