Sparta Town Council agreed Aug. 7 to allow planning to proceed
towards a skate park being constructed at Crouse Park. Alternatives
for a location include a vancant lot, formerly the location of
Troutman Shirt Company on N.C. 18 and Grayson Street, and a second
location towards the far end of the park itself near the stream
bordering the property.
The proposal for a skateboard park first was brought before the town
council in December 2006 when Eagle Scout candidate Coalbey Murphy
initially introduced council to the Razors Edge Skate Park project.
At that time, the estimated cost of the project exceeded $89,000.
