Two alleged murders are among cases on the Alleghany Superior Court docket the week of Aug. 6. Judge A. Moses Massey will be presiding.
Two co-defendants in the 2006 death of a Sparta man are slated for trial, according to court records.
Billy Joe Bare, 27, and Lonnie Dale Love, 34, both of Sparta, are charged with murdering Juan Jose Castro Lopez, 21.
The murder allegedly occurred March 20, 2006, inside a mobile home Lopez was renting on Chevy Lane. He was shot in the head with a small caliber weapon and his body taken outside to a wooded area.
His badly decomposed body was found May 6, 2006, by new occupants of the mobile home, according to then Sheriff Mike Caudill and court records.
Love, of Pine Swamp Road, and Bare, of Little River Drive, were charged May 22, 2006 with one count each of murder.
Additional charges were brought against both several months later. On
March 20, 2007, a grand jury indicted Bare and Love on one count each
of conspiracy to commit murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and
felonious breaking and entering.
