County looks to Sen. East for license office aid

Sen. Don East (R-Surry County) has offered his help in keeping Alleghany County's license agency intact, county officials said at the Alleghany County Commissioners' June 4 meeting.

The action came following a plan heralded earlier by state Department of Motor Vehicles officials would have closed the local office in favor of a mobile unit that would visit the county twice per month. The only location that could house such a vehicle would be the Wilkes Community College/Blue Ridge Business Development Center Parking Area, County Manager Don Adams said earlier.
