An Alleghany County Sheriff's Deputy has been suspended after being charged with simple assault against his estranged wife.
Sheriff David Edwards said Deputy Steve Lee Carrier, age 29, has been suspended until the case is heard in court. Also charged in the same incident is Jennifer Lynn Carrier, age 24, who is charged with simple assault, domestic criminal trespass and communicating threats.
The incident, which took place at Deputy Carrier's home in Piney
Creek, was investigated by Deputy Bryant Pierce, said Edwards.
Edwards said it is standard procedure at the Alleghany Sheriff's
Office to suspend any officer who is charged with a crime of any sort
until that charge is heard in court.
