The recall of pet food has been expanded since Menu Foods, a private label pet food manufacturer based in Streetsville, Ontario, Canada, initially began a voluntary recall of some of its products last month. Initially, the recall centered around "cuts and gravy" style dog and cat food produced in an Emporia, Kan. facility between Dec. 3, 2006 and March 6. The food, packaged in cans and pouches under a variety of brand names, was sold nationwide, as well as in Canada and Mexico.
As of April 17, the recall included 54 dog foods and 47 cat foods.
According to previously released information, the recall, when
addressed in March, included about 50 dog foods and about 40 cat foods.
