VIEW FROM ABOVE - This aerial view of an alternate prison site in Grayson County, Va. at the intersection of Cimarron Lane and U.S. 58 was provided by Grayson real estate agent Curtis Harrington. The site is across from the industrial park in Independence, Va.
The first site selected for the prison, in the Cox's Chapel community near the
Alleghany County line, has raised some hackles here and in Grayson
because of its location on the New River. However, a committee of
supporters has also formed to lobby for a prison's location to
Grayson. A decision on the prison is expected from Virginia officials
by April 17.
