This weekend is the last chance for holiday shoppers to register for a chance to win the Christmas Shopping Spree sponsored by Alleghany businesses. Registrations will be taken through Monday at participating establishments—more than 50 local businesses are participating in the event this year.
Three winners will be drawn Dec. 12 for gift packages with a total value of over $3,000. In other words, three prize packages, consisting of gift certificates and gifts from local merchants, each valued at more than $1,000, will be awarded to three different winners. The holiday promotion is being sponsored by the Sparta Revitalization Committee and the Alleghany Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with 55 area businesses.
Those wishing to enter the contest may go to any participating location and fill out an entry form. While entries are limited to one per person per store, shoppers can visit and enter at each of the participating businesses. No purchase is required at any of the establishments to enter the conest, even for those who wish to make entries at multiple locations.
"By pooling their resources, the merchants have created a collection to please almost anyone and I think it shows a generosity of spirit that is so typical of our community," Bob Bamberg, Chamber director, explained. "There has been enough participation to draw for not one, but three, prizes."
Bamberg also pointed out that allowing multiple entries also helps
generate interest in the broad variety of stores that are available
in the town and county.
