The new pre-kindergarten-kindergarten addition at Sparta School officially opened its doors to teachers and children on Monday. Ms. Lisa Hash's kindergarten class was the first to be introduced to their new room Monday morning.

Principal Susan Murphy said the second class to be moved would be that of Penny Evans' kindergarten and the third would be Diane Wyatt's kindergarten class. "They will all be moved in today," Murphy commented of the kindergarten classes. "Truthfully, it has been a slow process and we would like to thank the parents and the teachers at Sparta School for being so patient until we could get into this great facility."

Superintendent Jeff Cox stated as soon as final inspections necessary for preschool classes are completed, those students will join the kindergartners in the new wing.

"We recently got word of a requirement to have a sanitation inspection completed for preschool classes," Cox said. "We've been given approval to allow the move of the kindergarten classes into the new building.

"The students and the staff and parents are really anxious and excited to get into the new building," Cox continued. "I'd like to invite parents to come and see the new classrooms."

Teachers were given the opportunity to begin moving classroom belongings into the rooms beginning Oct. 13 and 16, Hash said. In her new classroom, along with a larger space, she and her students have their own bathroom, something she stated they were missing in their previous location.

Commenting on the new classroom space, Hash said, "It feels wonderful. It's much larger than what we had (and) I think it will be much more effective for teaching.

"This year, we have very large numbers in kindergarten," Hash, a teacher of 23 students, continued. "This is certainly a blessing and it's much needed, I think."

Before going to get the children, Hash said, "They don't know that they're coming in here yet. They're going to be very excited."
