One Stop voting begins Thursday

One stop absentee voting begins today, Oct. 19, for the general election.

The Alleghany Board of Elections Office, which is located in Sparta at 53 West Whitehead St. in Sparta (N.C. 18 South), about one block from the intersection of U.S. 21 (Main Street), is the only polling place for one-stop.

In order to vote one stop, voters must have registered to take part in the election prior to the Oct. 13 deadline.

The one stop voting period will continue until Nov. 4.

Polling place hours are from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. In addition, the Board of Elections Office also will be open on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
