Heritage Fest is Saturday

Main Street in Sparta will come alive Saturday as the annual Mountain Heritage Festival is held from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Graveside service honors local Confederate

The North Carolina Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans honored Civil War veteran Jonathan Horton Doughton with a graveside memorial service last Saturday at Laurel Springs Baptist Church.
