About 40 people attended a forum to discuss the proposed new 15,515 square foot library facility last Thursday night.

On hand to help field questions was architect Andrew Lopina, a vice president of Thomas Hughes Architecture of Winston-Salem. According to Librarian Debbie Brewer, the library has been working with the firm on expansion ideas for the last several years. A $2 million bond referendum for the project will be on the November ballot and should it pass, library plans for a new facility will move ahead.

The firm has estimated the project cost to be $2,760,900, $2,482,400 of which is for construction of the 15,515 square foot building, including furniture fixtures and equipment. The building is slated to be on the site of the current library and nearly triple the size of the existing location.
