The 20th annual Brinegar Days Festival is slated for this weekend. The two-day (Saturday and Sunday) event features demonstrations of mountain living, crafts, music and more.
The festival begins Aug. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and continues Sunday, Aug. 13 from noon to 4 p.m. The festival is free of charge. Children can participate in activities throughout the weekend.
Activities scheduled for the duration of the event both days include demonstrations of knitting, spinning and weaving, woodworking, corn grinding and flax processing. In addition, a shape note singing workshop will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Events planned for Saturday only include a program titled, "Local History: The Story of Basin Cove" from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and another titled, "Natural Days" from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Meanwhile, events available only on Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. include a draft horse demonstration old time music and dance demonstrations.
