The New River Shrine Club raised around $8,000 at its 27th annual car show, held over the weekend at the Alleghany County Fairgrounds, according to Club President Randy Williams.
The proceeds, which included $2,000 in corporate donations, will be distributed among the 22 Shriners hospitals for burned and crippled children in the United States.
A total of 115 vehicles were entered in this year's show. The number of entrants remained consistent with those of last year's and Williams added, "We had a really good field of cars."
Shown above left are Wayne Hauser of
King, Ted Edwards of Pilot Mountain, Harvey Arrington of Mount Airy
and Jim Long of King looking over Shirley and Paul Tharpe's 1956 Ford
Thunderbird convertible.
