About 20 people attended an information session June 29 to learn more about the possibility of the county having a youth center. The discussion was led by Alleghany County Ministerium President Thom Burleson and project coordinators Charlie Scott and Allen Reinhardt.
A meeting is scheduled for July 13 to continue discussion of the matter.
At the beginning of the meeting, Burleson discussed the Ministerium and its purpose. According to Burleson, to date, the Ministerium's most popular venture has been the Solid Rock Food Closet. The food closet serves 5 to 7 percent of the county population in an average month and currently involves 15 churches in the county.
"The Alleghany County Ministerium is a way for these churches to work
together on neutral ground for the betterment of our community,"
Burleson said.
