A document titled “Property Rights Protection Ordinance” was delivered to the Alleghany County Planning Board Monday night by a citizen group known as the land use planning committee that was given the task of preparing a countywide land use plan.
Although Monday was the first day of Spring, instead of mild weather and flowers, the county experienced snow and freezing temperatures.

The Alleghany County Board of Commissioners appeared to again support sending a school facilities issue to the voters of the county.

Two incumbent politicians, Commissioner Graylen Blevins and Board of Education Chairman Charles Joines, have opted not to seek re-election.
According to a release from the N.C. Department of Justice, the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation, at the request of Alleghany County Sheriff Mike Caudill, is working with the sheriff’s department to improve procedures for handling evidence and to make the department’s evidence room more secure.
