Changes likely at Piney Creek if middle school built

If a middle school is constructed and Piney Creek School students are included in grades six though eight, the result would be the loss of nearly half of the school’s current enrollment.

Brush Fire Reported

Firemen from the Sparta-Alleghany Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to an out-of-control brush fire on the property of J.D. Hough on Osborne Road in Sparta at around 3 p.m.
