More funds available for voting machines

Two recent moves by the state board of elections will be of benefit to Alleghany County in its quest to replace its voting machines.

Five local volunteers were recognized for their service to the community during the Jan. 30 joint meeting of the Alleghany County Board of Commissioners and the Sparta Town Council. Commissioner Graylen Blevins was absent.
