Changed meeting dates

The Alleghany County Board of Commissioners changed several meeting dates for January due to scheduling conflicts at their meeting on Jan. 19. The first meeting of the month for the board will be a hearing on the proposed $1.95 million Sparta Elementary School Expansion, which is set for Jan. 2 at 6:30 p.m. That meeting will only be for the public hearing on the school matter, since it falls on the New Year holiday for the county. The board postponed its first regular meeting date until Jan. 10 at 6:30 p.m. The application must be made to the Local Government Commission for the school loan by Jan. 4.

The board’s second meeting, slated for Jan. 16 at 10 a.m., was moved to Jan 23 due to a conflict with the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
