FIRST PLACE — This entry from New Covenant Church was awarded the only
prize of the parade this year, a $25 award for Best Depiction of Theme.

Entries were up, as were the crowds along Main Street in Sparta, for the annual Christmas parade.
The event, sponsored by the Sparta Revitalization Committee, enjoyed relatively mild weather for the season.
SRC spokesperson Sandy Rost noted that one cash prize was awarded for the float displaying the best depiction of the theme, Old Time Mountain Christmas.
Winner of that prize was New Covenant Church. That was the only award given during this year’s event.
A total of 15 homemade floats of one sort or another were in the parade.
