The Vial of Life program, with Alleghany Memorial Hospital as its’ lead agency, was officially launched on Nov. 1, according to Pharmacy Director Priscilla Cox.
The Vial of Life program allow people to plan in advance for their prescription medication needs in the event of an emergency. The Vial, which is basically a specially marked prescription pill bottle containing medical information, also helps rescue personnel know more quickly what medications a person is using.
“It’s something we are mandated to do to provide good-quality service
to the patients who come to the hospital,” Cox said. “Rather than doing
it when they go out the door, we want to try to get people in the
county to have them."
