U.S. Senator Richard Burr enjoys a laugh with Principal Judd Starling

N.C. Senator Richard Burr made a stop in Alleghany County on Tuesday at Alleghany High School as part of a 13-county sweep of the region. The senator noted that he is trying to make regular visits to areas across the state during recesses of the U.S. Senate.
Burr arrived at Alleghany High School at around 1:20 p.m. and was greeted by Principal Judd Starling before going to the schools new gymnasium and addressing the student body and faculty of the school.
Earlier in the day, Burr had passed through Wilkesboro at 9 a.m. before heading to Moravian Falls at 10:30 a.m. After leaving Alleghany, he traveled to the Ashe County Airport in Jefferson.
On Wednesday he was scheduled to make stops in Newland, Crossnore,
Hudson and Taylorsville; on Thursday he was scheduled to appear in
Rutherfordton, Shelby and Iron Station; and on Friday he was to appear
in Charlotte and Davidson. Burr, a Republican who lives in
Winston-Salem, formerly represented the 5th District in the U.S. House
of Representatives, a position now held by Republican Virginia Foxx of
Watauga. He and Elizabeth Dole, R-Salisbury, are the state’s only two
senators.
