The New River Shrine Club raised $10,000 or more at its 26th annual car show, held last Friday and Saturday at the Justice Carlisle Higgins Agricultural Fairgrounds, according to Larry Woodie, former club president.

Woodie said Hugh Halsey, the current Shrine Club treasurer, was out of town Tuesday and the exact figures weren’t available. All proceeds from the event go to support the Shriners’ Burn and Crippled Children’s Hospitals, and the local shriners volunteered their time and work to support the cause.

“That is why we appreciate all the people who bring their cars to the car show, and the people who come out to see the cars,” Woodie said.
