The North Carolina Symphony will present its summer pops concert July 21 in the Sparta School Auditorium, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 at the door and children and students through 12th grade are admitted to the show free of charge.
This year, the goal for the Alleghany County Educational Foundation Inc. the entity that funds the symphony’s visits symphony is to raise $17,500 in donations to fund two concerts — the July 21 concert and a concert for the county school’s elementary school students. At this time, a date has not been slated for the later event. Last year, $14,646 was raised for the cause.
The symphony will be led by resident conductor William Henry Curry as
they play pieces by Antonin Dvorak, Jaime Texidor, Piotr Illyich
Tchaikovsky and Leonard Bernstein. The symphony will also play Star
Trek through the Years, arranged by Cakvub Cyster.
